How Do I Post About Acting Projects Without Sounding Like I’m Bragging?

This is one of the top concerns I hear from actors: “I want to share a acting job… but I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging.”

I get it. None of us want to come off as self-absorbed or overly “look at me.” But here’s the thing: you can share your wins without boasting—and you should.

Because if you’re doing the work and building momentum, you deserve to take up space online. You should post with pride! 😀

I Call This: Posting Without Boasting

This is one of my favorite strategies—because it helps actors post confidently and humbly.

✅ You’re not bragging. You’re documenting your journey.
✅ You’re not showing off. You’re showing up.

It’s not about being loud—it’s about being real.

Bragging vs. Celebrating: What’s the Difference?

🗣 Bragging says: “Booked again. Because of course I did.”
🗣 Posting without boasting says: “Proud of this booking—it pushed me outside my comfort zone in the best way.”

6 Tips to Start ‘Posting Without Boasting’:

1️⃣ Tell a quick story
Let us in. Share the process, the nerves, something that happened that day on set or the unexpected lesson.

2️⃣ Make it about growth
How did it challenge you? How far have you come? What did you learn?

3️⃣ Give someone else a shoutout
Tag your acting coach, your reps, scene partner or the casting director who called you in. It turns a win into a shoutout (and a chance to re-connect).

4️⃣ Speak to your audience
Think of your followers as fellow artists, not fans. Your post should feel like connection, not a press release.

5️⃣ Get creative with your announcement

Think about your favorite commercials on TV. Some of them make us laugh and some of them tap into emotions and inspire us. They make us forget that this is actually a promotion. Get creative with Instagram Reels - make us laugh while promoting your project! This can be a super savvy way to promote a project (without boasting at all). This post from Lauren Mayfield is such a creative way to finally break the news about a project using Instagram Reels:

6️⃣ Turn your post into a conversation
Here’s one of my favorite tricks: end your caption with a question. This shifts the energy from “Look at me!” to “We’re in this together.” It invites others into your world—and reminds them that you’re not just sharing a win, you’re opening a door.

Ex: 🗣 “This role scared me—in the best way. What’s the last role that pushed you?”
Ex: 🗣 “I almost didn’t submit this. Anyone else talk themselves out of great opportunities before stepping up?”

That one sentence turns a post from me, me, me to a we—and that’s where the magic happens.

Sharing your wins isn’t bragging—it’s part of your job as a modern actor. Which one will you try out for your next announcement?
