Is It Okay to Post Old Content or Throwbacks as an Actor?

Is it OK to post old content or throwbacks as an actor?

Let’s clear this up:

👉 YES, you can post old content.
👉 NO, it doesn’t make you look out of date.

But here’s the catch:

Don’t just post a #TBT because you’re out of ideas. Post it because it means something. This is where I like to reframe “throwbacks” as what I call “Milestone Moments.”

Think of them as markers in your career—moments that show your progress, your wins, your journey.

What Counts as a Milestone Moment?

🎬 Your first co-star credit

🎭 Booking your first theatre role post-graduation

📩 Signing with reps

📸 Your first real headshot session

🎉 Getting into the union

💥 Crushing a big audition or callback

🙌 Working/Auditioning for a bucket list director or actor

🎓 Finishing a major class, program, or conservatory

🎥 Wrapping your first short film

🎙️ Your 20th audiobook credit!

🎬 Or the moment you knew you wanted to be an actor

It doesn’t have to be Broadway or a Series Regular moment- It just has to matter to you.

How to Share These Moments With Purpose:

Add insight or reflection

What did that moment teach you? What’s changed since then? Bring your audience into the why.

🗣 “I booked this role three years ago today. I was terrified on set, but it’s the day I realized I could do this.”

Connect it to now

If you’re currently auditioning, training, or chasing something new, use the post to connect past growth to present momentum.

🗣 “This headshot session feels like a lifetime ago. Just had a new shoot this week and can’t wait to show you the glow-up.”

Use it to inspire

Remind your followers—especially other actors—that the journey takes time, and progress is worth celebrating at every stage.

Post the moment, not just the memory.

You’re not recycling content—you’re showing the story arc of your career. That’s not just allowed. That’s powerful.
